When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 coming out?
Development for film has now been put on hold (August 25), according to The Hollywood Reporter, which means the release date is still unknown.
Less than six months after firing him for recent derogatory tweets, Disney reinstated James Gunn as the producer in March 2019.
Deadline confirmed that Alan Horn, President of Walt Disney Studios, has spoken with Gunn several times in the past year and has since been convinced, by Gunn’s public apologies and subsequent management, to re-hire him.
Gunn said the film would be “[catapulting] old and new characters of Marvel in the next ten years.” The third film in the Guardians trilogy is likely to be the launchpad for what Marvel calls ‘Phase 4’ – that’s the next big chunk of Marvel movies – and, to put it in context, we ‘re about to enter the meaty bit of Phase 3, which includes Black Panther, Infinity War and the fourth Avengers movie.✕
Facing fears that the film could be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gunn insisted on April 12, 2020 that alongside his other major movie, The Suicide Squad, things will still go ahead as scheduled.
“The plans with Vol 3 right now are exactly the same as they were before coronavirus,” he tweeted.
Has filming begun yet?
Yes, this is understandable given the back and forth about the director of the film. Guardians 3 is expected to begin shooting in the summer of 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If there are any delays on DC’s The Suicide Squad, which will also be directed by James Gunn, this could be pushed back.
IMDB.com lists Guardians 3 as scheduled to be released sometime in 2022, while the DC movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 6 August 2021.
Where are the Guardians set to 3?
After Avengers : Infinity War, and Avengers 4 as-yet untitled.
Manager James Gunn previously responded to a fan ‘s request on Twitter: “Vol. After Avengers 3 & 4, 3 will take place. “On Facebook, too, Gunn wrote:” Much of what it’s like …
Happened at the MCU for the past 10 years or so, the Avengers’ Infinity War has led, in a big way. Guards the Cosmos Vol. 3 After all this, will happen.
Guardians Vol. To put that into context. 2 Four years before the Infinity War is set – so that Guardians 3 is set several years after Vol 2. But whether this will remain the case when a new director enters remains to be seen.
What is this plot?
It’s presumably all under wraps before Avengers 4 comes released in 2019 – but Gunn has previously teased that some form of dramatic change is about to occur in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Gunn said the movie “will conclude the story of this iteration of the Galaxy Guardians in the same Facebook post and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond. I’m going to work side by side with Kevin Feige and the gang to help plan where these stories go to make sure the Marvel Interstellar Universe’s future is as unique to real and amazing as we’ve built it so far.
Elsewhere, Avengers’ recently announced deleted scene: Infinity War might have a hint about the Galaxy movie’s next Guardians. First presented to audiences at San Diego’s Comic-Con, the scene showed the Guardians getting, but ignoring, a series of crucial coded messages. Before Mantis interrupts, Star-Lord and Drax all argue over some songs, noticing the blinking light.

Despite Disney ‘s original sacking of director James Gunn after historic tweets that were unearthed online, according to his brother Sean Gunn, the studio is still using his screenplay for the third and final film in the trilogy.
Speaking to Tulsa World, Sean, who plays Kraglin, revealed: “I don’t really know what’s going on with Guardians 3 yet. I know Disney still wants that movie to be made.
“I know they have every intention to use the script my brother wrote. Obviously, that was a very unfortunate situation for everyone, most of all him, but I’m also someone who was preparing to make that movie for half a year and now it’s in the air.
The Guardians of the Galaxy cast released a public statement in defense of Gunn after Gunn was fired in 2018, with Chris Pratt saying that he would “love to see him reinstated as producer.” The actor Dave Bautista, meanwhile, blamed Disney for the sacking.
Pratt has since reiterated that it is using Gunn ‘s script. “It’s off the chain, it’s so good, ” he told MTV News. “We are going to deliver the film. We will be giving the fans what they need. To get the job done is in the nature of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, and that’s what we are going to do.
Is this the last movie in a trilogy?
Writing on Twitter, a fan asked James Gunn, the director: “Please never stop making Galaxy movie Guardians. Please keep this running for as long as possible! These characters I love.
He replied: “Thanks-but Vol. 3 The trilogy will end. “See below for an exchange.
Thanks – but Vol. 3 will end the trilogy. https://twitter.com/halloweeneddie/status/1007443367221850113 …
Director James Gunn said at the Guardians Vol 2 premiere: “It’s going to be the final [film] in this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” But Kevin Feige, the Marvel boss, says there may be more from this cohort of Guardians: “I think James has an amazing connection with these characters and with this cosmic world in particular. So he, I believe,
More stories could quickly be monitored past Vol. 3. And I think he’s got them, and just keep coming up with them, which ‘s cool.
Who are Guardians 3?
Probably everyone from Guardians 2, with the exception of Dave Bautista perhaps.
Zoe Saldana said at the Guardians 2 premiere: “I don’t even know if I am in it,” gesturing to Gunn and adding: “Ask him when you interview him.”
We don’t know exactly, but, thanks to something Gunn wrote in that same revelatory Facebook post, we can assume that the main players survive the next couple of Avengers films: “So, yes, I’m coming back to write and direct Galaxy Vol Guardians. 3. In the end, my passion for Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, Yondu, Mantis, Drax, and Nebula — and any of the other upcoming characters — goes deeper than you guys might think, and I believe they have more adventures to go on and learn more about themselves and the beautiful and often frightening world that we all live in. And, as in either Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, We’ll be trying to build a narrative that goes above what you’re expecting. Gunn has stated explicitly that Pom Klementieff will go back to Mantis.
In a Twitter exchange Mark Hamill also joked with Gunn about being in the video.
Gunn declared Vol 3. In this version, will mark the end of the Guardians. One fan wrote on Twitter: “If they’re not reading closely enough, all of these people get upset: ‘Volume 3 will end the trilogy.’ Well, a trilogy generally means 3. Mr. Gunn could do more beyond the trilogy … “Gunn responded to:
After Gunn’s first shot, Dave Bautista suggested that if the script for the producer was also ditched, he would be willing to step down from the franchise. He said: “Where I’m right now, if [Marvel] doesn’t use that script, I’ll ask them to release it.
Cutting me out of my contract, or recasting me. If I did not, I will be doing James a disservice.
Having spoken to The Jonathan Ross Show about his franchise future, Bautista casts more doubt upon his return. When Ross asked if he would come back, Bautista said: “It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no, it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn.
He reiterated that the film had been taken off, adding it was currently “on hold forever.” He added: “I don’t know if I want to work with Disney to be honest with you.” You can watch the whole interview here:
There were rumors that Adam McKay could step into the chair of the director before Gunn was reinstated in March 2019. McKay talked to the Happy Sad Confused podcast as reported in Empire, and said he had been having discussions with Marvel for some time. He also said that if it was presented to him he would find it difficult to turn down the role of directing Guardian’s of the Galaxy. McKay has been working on a series of films including Ant-Man, Anchorman and the forthcoming feature Holmes and Watson.
What is going to be the ‘big bad’?
Probably Adam Warlock.
Thanks to Gunn saying all of that about Guardians 3 kicking off Marvel’s next 10 years, it looks like we’re going to see another huge Marvel villain in the movie. And fans think Warlock will be because Marvel boss Kevin Feige has already spoken about the character in relation to this movie. “[The arrival of Adam Warlock] shall not be until Guardians 3,” he told io9. “Adam isn’t part of Infinity War, but he’s in the comics, of course, but James [Gunn] really loved Adam Warlock, and our Infinity War story is the culmination of all the stories we’ve been telling up until this level. James had ideas for introducing Adam — there have certainly been ideas in Vol. 2, maybe in part one, but certainly in part two — which were fine, but the way the plot came together wasn’t the time for it.
Who is the warlock Adam?
He’s a big deal in the Marvel universe’s ‘cosmic’ part where he’s both a good and a bad guy. His dark side is called Magus, which becomes dangerous if and when he seizes the Soul Gem – one of the Infinity Stones that Thanos is after in Infinity War. See below for a complete explanator.
Have we ever seen Adam Warlock in a Marvel film before?
We’ve, twice – he ‘s added briefly (and officially) in a post-credit scene for Guardians Vol 2 in 2017. But we first saw him before that, in Thor: The Dark World in 2013 – so, according to James Gunn, that was a misunderstanding.
We see Warlock’s cocoon inside the Collector’s museum with a Chitauri soldier and Howard the Duck in a mid-credit scene for that 2013 Thor movie – indeed a scene directed by Gunn. Gunn also admits that placing the cocoon was a mistake: “I made a error with the first one because I put something in it that looks like the cocoon of Adam Warclok.
Museum of collector’s. I was just making nice things for me at the time to bring into the Collector’s museum. I didn’t know how seriously people would take the Easter eggs. “In Guardians Vol 3 we’ll meet Warlock properly.
